Minnesota Intimate Wedding on a Farm | Manon + Bret

Filed in Ceremony, elopements, Intimate weddings — October 8, 2021

Soaked in the summer sun on a beautiful family farm, we spent the entire day celebrating Manon and Bret’s wedding in the countryside of Minnesota. If you’re looking for an intimate and romantic wedding, read on to see what a thoughtful and detailed wedding can look like.

There are some people that you just want to be best friends with and hang out all day and that is Manon and Bret. Prior to them being clients, they were friends. And if your are wondering if you have seen them in some other photos, you would be right. I had asked these two lovely people to model for me and in an incredible twist, Bret messaged me to say he wanted to propose during the session.

I just about jumped out of my skin in joy. Bret and I planned the whole thing out and at 5 in the morning on the side of the Palisade Head cliffs Bret got down on one knee. Manon said yes and we spent the rest of the day celebrating and exploring the North Shore.

Manon and Bret planned a flawless and gorgeous intimate wedding that included their closest friends and family to help them celebrate.

Getting married under a willow tree on a family farm.

It is not often that I gasp at the beauty of a family farm, but this one, a horse farm was truly stunning. The willow trees towered over the property and everywhere you looked there was natural beauty and character.

The ceremony was located under the willow trees and with every bit of wind the leaves danced.

Before the wedding, Bret took one of the willow tree leaves and had it made into a necklace for Manon. On her wedding day we attached it to her bouquet so that it could have a place in her day.

The wedding was intimate and full of little moments that were truly personal and meaningful.

Bret and Manon treated all of us like friends and family instead of vendors. They had a table for us to sit at the reception. They included us in their day in a meaningful way. At the end of they day tehy told me “Jessie put the camera down and have a drink. Come dance with us!”

Manon and Bret, I appreciate your love, your support, your trust, your friendship. I’m so so so glad to be a part of your journey and your special day. I love you both and I miss you guys.

“Jessie is an all around amazing photographer! My husband and I had the opportunity to have her capture our wedding day and I can not be more happy with the photos she took. Jessie is not only absolutely talented but she has the best energy. Her attitude about making the day about getting all the photos we envisioned reflected in her work. She made us feel comfortable telling us how to pose and what to do really helped! I’d highly recommend Jessie as your photographer!!” -Manon and Bret, September 2021

Here is a Q&A from the gorgeous Manon about their intimate family farm wedding in Minnesota:

How did you and your significant other first meet?

Bret and I met in 2013 when he played for the METS organization. He was staying at the hotel during spring training and at the time I was a server at the Italian restaurant across the street from his hotel. Bret and I immediately noticed each other one afternoon while I was serving. It wasn’t until a couple weeks later on Saint Patty’s day I grew the courage to actually meet him. From that moment we became crazy for one another.

What is your proposal story?

June 14th 2020 what I thought was just a photoshoot for Bret and i was actually a flawless proposal planned previously by Bret and Jessie. Me Jessie, her husband and Bret booked a beautiful cabin near the North shore to prepare for the “photoshoot”. We woke up at 3am to prepare and drive out to Palisade Head MN when we got there Bret and I were dressed up and ready to go. the gate to drive up to the top overlooking the stunning north shore sunrise. We instantly decided to make the hike to the top. Me in heels may have piggy backed a bit. 1/2 mile up hill later we finally start taking pictures with Jessie from a distance photographing. The sun rising was breath taking as Bret and I are taking pictures he repeats over and over again how much he loves me and finally makes his move. In shock I gasp and of course shout out yes! The day couldn’t have been any better and wouldn’t have happened without our dear friend Jessie! The photos turned out absolutely amazing!!!!

What are your favorite things to do together?

We love just hanging out at the house and cooking for each other. We love pull tabs, going to his aunts farm and hanging out with our doggy Cuddy!!

What was your favorite thing about your wedding/elopement day?

My favorite thing was how everything came together so perfectly!! I don’t think there was a moment that Bret and I weren’t smiling.

What advice do you have for other couples that are thinking about eloping or having a smaller wedding?

DO IT!!!!!!
