The Best Places To Elope In Colorado

Colorado is home to some of the most beautiful mountain peaks in the U.S. It’s also full of wildflower meadows, waterfalls, ski slopes, mile-high hiking trails, sand dunes, streams, cozy cabins, campsites, and much more. Since there are so many great places to elope in Colorado, I’ve narrowed down my all-time favorite Colorado elopement locations and accommodations in one blog. Keep reading to learn more about the best places to elope in Colorado!

Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park is 415 square miles of mountains, forests, and alpine tundra. You and your partner can adventure up to Dream Lake for a hiking elopement or stroll around Bear Lake Nature Trail before saying your vows lakeside. 

The quaint, historic town of Estes Park lies just outside of Rocky Mountain National Park, a bustling hub for friendly locals, lively breweries, and the occasional herd of elk. 

Favorite Ceremony Locations

Dream Lake

This dreamy ceremony location is accessed by a 2.2-mile out-and-back hike. On your way up to Dream Lake, you’ll also pass by Nymph Lake and have the option to continue up the trail past Dream Lake to Emerald Lake. 

Bear Lake 

Another beautiful lake ceremony option, this lake is accessed by the easy, flat Bear Lake loop. You and your partner can stroll along the lake’s edge and enjoy scenic mountain and water views before your vows!

Breckenridge 

Known for its world-class ski slopes, main street shopping and dining options, nearby hiking trails, and mountain town charm, Breckenridge is one of the most popular elopement locations in all of Colorado. It’s the perfect spot to celebrate for young couples that love hiking, skiing, conversations over good food, and laughs over local craft brews. 

You and your partner can host an intimate wedding at Sapphire Point Overlook, celebrate your love with a ski ceremony on Peak 8, or say your vows in front of an A-Frame Cabin. Endless adventures await in beautiful Breckenridge!

Sapphire Point Overlook

Sapphire Point Overlook is located high above Lake Dillon, with a panoramic view of the water and the Rocky Mountains. There is a designated space special-use space you and your partner will need to reserve before your ceremony here.

Hoosier Pass

An 11,542-foot mountain pass connected to a dog-friendly hiking trail! This is a great ceremony location for couples who want to include their furry friend in their celebration.

Telluride

The beautiful San Juan Mountain Range runs through this ski town, nestled near the southwest corner of Colorado. While skiing is one of the most popular outdoor activities in Telluride, the town offers a variety of festivals, hiking trails, rafting, kayaking, and off-roading.

Bridal Veil Falls

Couples can elope beneath Bridal Veil Falls, the tallest free-falling waterfall in Colorado. This breathtaking elopement spot is accessed by a 2.4-mile out-and-back trail. 

Lower Blue Lake

Make your way to a turquoise-colored lake along Blue Lakes Trail. About an hour into your hike, you’ll come up on a waterfall before reaching Lower Blue Lake. The water at Lower Blue Lake is bright and shimmering, beautifully reflecting the surrounding evergreen forests and mountain peaks.

Aspen

If you and your partner are looking to invest in an elevated experience, Aspen is a luxurious, one-of-a-kind elopement spot located in the heart of Colorado. Aspen is home to some of the finest hotels, ski slopes, shopping spots, and hiking trails.

Maroon Bells + Maroon Bells Amphitheater

Located just 10 miles outside of Aspen is the Maroon Bells, one of the most picturesque elopement spots in all of Colorado. The Maroon Bells are two bell-shaped peaks accessed by several hiking trails. You and your partner can explore the beauty surrounding the Maroon Bells just before eloping against an epic mountain backdrop at Maroon Bells Amphitheater

Independence Pass

This 12,095ft pass offers incredible views of the Continental Divide. While it’s only open from late May to early November, Fall is the most beautiful time to visit. Autumn colors fill the pass, making for one of the most colorful elopement ceremony spots in all of Colorado.

Limelight Hotel

It’s no secret Aspen is home to some of the best high-end hotels in all of Colorado. Limelight is an underrated option that often gets overlooked when compared to many of the other 4 and 5-star hotels in the area. It’s a quiet retreat away from some of the bigger lodges, with a cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. It also has some amazing in-room details that enhance the experience — fireplaces, espresso machines, plush bathrobes… It’s a dream!

Crested Butte

Mount Crested Butte towers over this small, remote ski town. It’s one of the more relaxed mountain towns in Colorado, widely considered a hidden gem by Colorado locals. Crested Butte offers skiing. This is the perfect area for couples looking to unplug and reconnect with an intimate and private ceremony.

Emerald Lake

A high alpine lake located in the valley of Crested Butte. Surrounded by wildflowers in Summer, this magical elopement location is accessed by an easy hike that feels more like a stroll. You and your partner will pass through a beautiful pine-filled forest before reaching the basin where the bright blue lake lies. 

Washington Gulch

A rolling backcountry area with fields of wildflowers in Summer. This ceremony location has some of the best mountain views in all of Colorado. From meadows to trails, overlooks, and creeks, you and your partner will have a variety of places to choose from when it comes time to say your vows!

Crested Butte Chalet

With a jaw-dropping view of Mount Crested Butte, this cute and comfy chalet is hard to beat. It’s only a short walk or shuttle ride from restaurants, bars, shopping, and slopes. The Airbnb is also spacious enough to sleep up to 10 guests for intimate wedding ceremonies!

Elevation Hotel & Spa

This luxury ski resort is located in the heart of Crested Butte. It features a heated pool, a full-service spa, luxurious guest rooms, a fitness center, an outdoor fire pit area, direct access to ski lifts, and more!

Great Sand Dunes National Park

Great Sand Dunes National Park is located in southwestern Colorado and is home to the tallest dunes in North America. Couples can enjoy various activities across this unique National Park, such as sand sledding, sand boarding, off-roading, and stargazing. Great Sand Dunes National Park is a certified International Dark Sky Park, the perfect spot to lay back with the love of your life and look up at the Milky Way. The Sangre De Cristo Mountain Range soars over the eastern side of the park, making for one of the coolest places for couples to elope in all of Colorado. 

You and your partner can spend the morning off-roading in a Jeep and spend your afternoon getting ready before saying your vows in front of a surreal sand dune Sunset.

Perfect for a romantic getaway, this Airbnb home also includes a luxury geodome, hot tub, and mountain views. Wildlife has been spotted here, along with shooting stars and spectacular Sunsets!

Piñon Flats Campground

There’s nothing better than falling asleep under the stars. Camping at Piñon Flats is a rustic outdoor experience for adventurous lovers. You’ll be able to gaze up at the Milky Way and wake up to a sand dune Sunrise.

Garden of the Gods is a group of towering red rock formations in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It is a very popular elopement area with hiking, biking, and horse riding trails in and around the park. Some of the most notable formations in the park include the Cathedral Spires and Siamese Twins.

There are many special event locations within Garden of the Gods State Park, including Jaycee Plaza, Scotsman Picnic Area, Sentinel Plaza, Three Graces Plaza, and South Spring Canyon Area. 

Favorite Ceremony Locations 

Jaycee Plaza

A great accessibility-friendly option with a nearby parking lot and restrooms. The view from Jaycee Plaza looks out onto the park.  

Scotsman Picnic Area

This is a great ceremony location that can double as a celebration spot. If you’re hosting an intimate wedding, it’s ideal for a picnic brunch with family and friends.

Sentinel Plaza

This is another accessibility-friendly ceremony location located near a walking path. While it’s less intimate than some of the other designated ceremony spots, it provides incredible views of some of the park’s best rock formations. 

Three Graces Plaza

This is an incredible spot in front of a type of red rock formation called a narrowing fountain. There’s no other ceremony spot quite like this one in the park!

South Spring Canyon Area

This shaded, accessible area features amazing views of the Rocky Mountains. It also has its own parking lot and includes seating at picnic tables.

The Lofthouse 

A modern, Scandinavian-inspired getaway in the middle of a quiet pine forest. It’s a cozy retreat that’s interior is ideal for getting-ready photos, celebrating, and relaxing. 

Kinship Landing

Located in downtown Colorado Springs, Kinship Landing is a friendly and warm boutique hotel. It’s only a 15-minute drive from Garden of the Gods and offers guests a beautiful cafe and bar gathering space. It’s also dog-friendly!
